COVID-19 Lockdown: South African man arrested for attempting to smuggle girlfriend

When a man is caught smuggling his girlfriend to his place through the boot of his car during lockdown. Is it love or civil disobedience?

Everything they say is fair in love and war. So, should we support or rebuke a South African man recently arrested for trying to smuggle his female lover through the boot of his car amidst a nationwide lockdown?

According to a safety and community official, the man in question was arrested at Gauteng which is one of South Africa’s nine provinces. The official said in his report that the South African man was stopped for the usual “Stop and Search” procedure at one of the roadblocks in Gauteng province when surprisingly his female-lover was found in the boot of the car.

To make matters worse, this apprehended driver was also driving without a permit and was confidently heading to another province called the “Eastern Mpumalanga”. Isn’t it just ridiculous that he was brave enough to not only violate the lockdown order in the country but also drive without a permit?

See the tweet of the South African safety official below confirming this report;

A man was arrested at the N12 roadblock on Friday, 17 April, for attempting to smuggle his girlfriend out of GP to MP, without a permit. Law enforcement asked the man to open the boot to search, they found a lady inside. Ever since the confirmation of the COVID-19 outbreak in South Africa, the government had officially imposed a compulsory nationwide lockdown just like we have in some states in Nigeria currently. This lockdown order had taken effect in South Africa since the 24th of March 2020 and has since been extended to last until April end. So, these arrested love birds were obviously aware of the risk they were taking before being caught.

According to TIMES LIVE report, the female-lover (girlfriend) of the South African man was also arrested for giving her consent to be “smuggled” in the boot of a car amidst lockdown.

See the video below that was recorded during the arrest of these love birds;

We strongly condemn this type of idea that these South African love birds resorted to using as a means of spending time together amidst COVID-19 lockdown. It is just a terrible idea that will only get anyone who tries it into much bigger trouble.

Coronavirus is real.
